Golden Gate Academy - Principal
GGA was established in 1923 as an SDA school to serve Oakland and the surrounding area. It was closed in 2005 and has undergone a period of strategic analysis and restructuring. It will reopen in the fall of 2018 as a top-tier STEM focused NCC school, with a dedication to Christ at the center of our mission. Upon hiring, the principal will work with the reorganization board in the year prior to opening to ensure school readiness, staff hires, and recruitment of new students and families. The school will begin with just two grades, Kindergarten and 6th, and expand by two grades each year until the full K-12th breadth is achieved.   • Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school. This includes managing instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures.
  • Nurture both students and teachers to achieve their greatest potential academically, instructionally and spiritually.
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations. The Pacific Union Conference Education Code is accepted as the basis for GGA's organization, administration, and operation under the supervision of the Northern California Conference Office of Education.
Experience: Demonstrated interest in innovative, inquiry based educational contexts.
Bachelor's degree required with a major in a STEM field preferred.
Master's degree in education administration or equivalent administrative credential required.
At least 3 years teaching experience required, with STEM teaching experience preferred.
Previous experience leading and inspiring teachers, staff, and students.
