Jose Marin Accepts Call to Serve as Arizona Conference Executive Secretary
Northern California Conference Hispanic Ministries Coordinator/Evangelist Jose Marin has accepted the call to serve as the executive secretary for the Arizona Conference. He will also be the conference's ministerial director and evangelism coordinator.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, delegates to the Arizona Conference’s Constituency Session, held at the Camelback church in Phoenix, voted to extend the call to Marin, and he accepted.
“Pastor Marin has had a significant impact on ministry here in Northern California,” said NCC President Jim Pedersen. “He and his family will be greatly missed - and I’m confident that Jose will be a great blessing to God’s work in Arizona.”
Marin’s wife, Cynthia, also works for the NCC as an administrative assistant for its planned giving/property management department. They have three sons: Geovanni, Nephtali, and Josemiguel.
“We are so thankful for the empowerment and trust that this administration bestowed upon us,” said Marin. “I'm also thankful for the support of the pastors and constituent members in doing what matters most for the kingdom of God.”
Born in Long Beach, Calif., Marin attended public school until his senior year at San Diego Academy. That year he went on a mission trip and felt God’s call to become a pastor. After graduating from Montemorelos University with a degree in theology, he worked as a pastoral assistant in Southern California for several months. In 1995 he accepted a call to the Washington Conference, where he helped plant a church in Seattle. From 1998-2006, he worked in the Texas Conference as a pastor and evangelist before moving to the Arizona Conference. There, for more than seven years, he served as assistant to the president for Hispanic ministries and as an evangelist. In addition, he was director of the Sabbath School department for three of those years. Marin came to the NCC in 2014.
“Our journey in the Northern California Conference has been short but extremely fulfilling and blessed,” said Marin. “I have seen God’s divine purposes fulfilled in so many areas of my life and that of my family—as well as in our work here in this great conference.”
