Join the Compete to Eat Challenge

What is the Compete to Eat Workweek Challenge?
As part of the NCC 2017 WOW Campaign, NCC employees are encouraged to voluntarily participate in the Compete to Eat Workweek Challenge. The Compete to Eat Workweek Challenge is an eight-week wellness competition beginning on March 6 and lasting through April 28. The challenge is designed to help NCC employees move more during the workweek as they compete to win one of several prizes related to healthy eating.
How does it work?
Each employee that participates is encouraged to move the equivalent of 10,000 steps per day during the workweek (Monday - Friday).  Your exercise tracker and most smartphones can help you keep track of your steps.
When you are participating in activities not tracked by your exercise tracker or smartphone, please refer to the conversion chart located under the resources tab of this website. The chart will help you determine the activity’s equivalent number of steps. If your activity is not listed, find the one(s) most similar to your activity. Remember 2,000 steps is the equivalent of one aerobic mile.
You will need to keep a record of your steps each workday. A step log is also located under the resources tab of this website to help you keep track if you need it. Record your step total at the end of each workweek. We are asking each entity (school, church, etc.) to have a designated challenge recorder. The challenge recorder will collect the step logs at the end of the eight-week challenge and report the results to the Wellness Committee by emailing wow@nccsda.com. Only those participants who achieved at least 30,000 steps per workweek will qualify for the drawing to win healthy eating prizes. However, each participate will receive a certificate of participation from the NCC Wellness Committee at the end of the challenge.
At the end of the challenge, all names should be submitted to the Wellness Commitee at wow@nccsda.com no later than May 5. The Wellness Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 10 to draw the names of the winners. Winners will be notified on May 11 and will be announced to all employees around about May 17. Participant certificates will be sent out shortly thereafter.
Who can participate?
All NCC employees can participate. Remember, in order to be included in the drawing, you must have no less than 30,000 steps per week during this eight-week challenge. At the end of the eight-week competition, those employees who achieved the minimum 30,000 steps during the workweek will be entered into a drawing to receive one of the Compete to Eat prizes. The prizes include:
  •  1 - Grand Prize  - J.A. Henckels Spirit Ceramic Nonstick 10 Piece Cookware Set
  •  2 - Nutri Bullets
  •  2 - Trader Joes Gift Cards ($50.00 each)
  •  2 - Whole Foods Gift Cards ($50.00 each)
  •  2 - Vegetarian Cookbooks
  • 10 -  Jamba Juice Gift Cards ($10.00 each) 
As an additional means of encouraging employees at your location to move during this challenge, you might also want to have your own mini challenge running concurrently with the eight-week challenge.
